Rockie Fresh - Driving 88 MIXTAPE REVIEW

ROCKIE FRESH - DRIVING 88

If you haven’t heard yet, Rockie Fresh is on a quest to become your next favorite rapper. The 20 year old Chicago native is already one of the hottest independent artists in hip hop. His grassroots movement has everyone talking, he has recently taught the attention of music magazines Complex, XXL and WIRED.

His latest mixtape “Driving 88” showcases his talent and range. With similarity to Kid Cudi, Asap Rocky and cockiness like Kanye West, Rockie Fresh knows how to keep your attention. Right off the back he catches your ear with “Into the future” which is sure to be a crowd pleaser. For all you nerds that caught the Back to the Future sound bites throughout the track, feel free to geek out!

Rockie’s wide range of samples and variety of beats keeps you listening from beginning to the end. Tracks like “Turn It Up” is sure to get some radio and club play. Looking for a track to play while you are “enhancing” your mind? “Never, Never” “Driving 88” and “Come Around” are sure to provide a good soundtrack for you. “So Long” the mixtape’s closing track serves as a farewell track for all those who hated on his moves. The track is a nice way to wrap up a noteworthy project.

Overall, this is a very impressive project and I can see why Rick Ross was quick to sign him to Maybach Music Group. Big things are coming, be sure to check him out.

My rating 4 out of 5

Until next time!

Stay Fresh!
